"Wildwood, Days End" is part of an ongoing series of branch weavings that use crape myrtle branches. These weavings use the natural branch of the crape myrtle for its underlying symbolism of life, death, rebirth, strength, adaptability, and resilience. The natural branch structure echos both the geography of landscape and traversing the geography of memories and the past. The weaving in and around the branch becomes the visible recollection of memory, choice, and emotion, the record keeper of a given, moment, place and time. In "Wildwood, Days End," the shape and form of the branch mimics the ever shifting light across the landscape as the days draw closed. Shifts in the weaving fibers, resemble light as it is scattered across the land and the sun sets from view. Rich jewel tones of red, magenta, violet, and orange to gold remind the viewer of not only the vibrance of a sunset, but the boldness that is found in closing doors to open new, and crossroads choices to follow where the heart leads.
