Joe Wilder (1920–2013) was an accomplished artist, surgeon, author, and educator whose remarkable career bridged the worlds of medicine and fine art. A graduate of Dartmouth College, he earned medical degrees from Columbia, the University of Pennsylvania, and Cornell, and conducted advanced research at Sweden's Karolinska Institute. His paintings have been exhibited at renowned institutions including the Smithsonian Institution, the Museum of Modern Art (traveling exhibitions), Yale University, Stanford University, and Johns Hopkins University. Wilder authored several acclaimed art and surgical books and received numerous honors recognizing his achievements in both science and the arts, leaving a legacy defined by creativity, curiosity, and excellence.
