Tucked along the edge of the Fire Tower Center Garden's signature Tobacco Leaf Lawn, you'll discover one of the garden's most unexpected and beloved features—an antique farm truck transformed into a one-of-a-kind water feature.
The truck once belonged Mr. Eugene T. Moore, Sr., the grandfather of Moore Farms Botanical Garden's founder, Ms. Darla Moore. Having spent time riding in it as a young girl while traveling the dusty farm roads of this property, Ms. Moore couldn't bear to see it disappear with time. Instead, with the help of the Rivercrest Group, she imagined a new purpose—one that would preserve its story while celebrating the landscape it helped shape.
Today, water gently flows through the weathered truckbed, giving new life to a vehicle that once served the working farm. Its rusted metal and timeworn character have been intentionally preserved, allowing visitors to appreciate the beauty found in age, memory, and thoughtful reuse.
As you peer into the cab, it's easy to imagine the generations who once climbed aboard before heading out across the fields. More than an old truck, this living sculpture serves as a tribute to the agricultural heritage of Moore Farms and the memories that continue to inspire its transformation into a place of beauty, creativity, and discovery.
