Ethereal Walking Boat

Corrina Sephora is a multimedia Atlanta-based artist specializing in metal sculpture, painting, and public installations. Through symbolic imagery, she weaves nautical and celestial atmospheres to explore emotion, memory, and ritual. Her work conveys loss and transformation within contemporary society--both personal and universal. Corrina's practice includes art-making, storytelling, teaching, and creating public and private commissions.

Her public installations engage communities and civic spaces, including works at The Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Park, Atlanta Botanical Gardens, and Atlanta Jewish Academy. In 2023, she created a large-scale installation at the Freeport Art Museum's Arts Plaza, IL, exhibited in Venice, Italy, during the Venice Biennale, and received Honorable Mention from the City of North Charleston. She has been awarded by the Judith Alexander Foundation, Fulton County Arts and Culture, and Decatur Arts Council.

My work exists as visual poetry, transcending storytelling, ancestry, and transformation. My use of boat imagery is inspired by my grandfather, a retired sea captain who built miniature vessels, and by my father, a builder of homes and boats. Rooted in the traditions of ancient blacksmiths, diviners, healers, and spiritual alchemists, I explore the connection between earthly and cosmic realms. "Ethereal Walking Boat" embodies a vessel of passage, navigating the journey between life and death, matter and spirit. Influenced by Viking rituals of sending their dead to sea ablaze, this work symbolizes transcendence and transformation. Through repetitive nautical and celestial motifs, I investigate conduits between science and spirituality, the known and the imagined. The act of creating, through drawing, painting, and sculpting, is a meditation that quiets the mind and opens the heart to the infinite expanse beyond what we know.
